Trust in Politicians? It’s gone, and it’s not coming back

Let’s not sugar coat it, the trust between the British people and our political class, is shattered, not cracked, not dented, but totally  obliterated and anyone pretending otherwise, is either deluded or part of the problem.

Start with Brexit, 17.4 million people voted to leave the European Union, the largest democratic mandate in British history, but what did we get?.. Years of foot dragging, legal gymnastics and open contempt from so many in Parliament… a political class who thought they knew better than the voters, who tried every trick in the book to reverse, water down, or delay Brexit. 

That betrayal will never be forgotten, because it was the moment millions realised that they weren’t represented, they were managed, patronised and ignored.

Then came Covid, authoritarian lockdowns, all based on information from funded and biased scientists, many of which were funded by ‘big Pharma’, many that wanted the limelight and clearly had hero complexes..businesses were crushed, mine included, families separated and the elderly left to die alone. They told us it was for the greater good, yet time and again, the very people writing the rules were caught breaking them. Parties at Number 10 while you missed funerals, maskless ministers while you couldn’t visit loved ones in hospital and then they had the audacity to act like they were the victims, when we got angry. The rules were never for them, were they? Politicians thought that they ruled us, instead of representing us, well that’s going to change.

And don’t even get me started on immigration, we’ve been promised “control” for years, but the boats keep coming. Thousands of dangerous, unknown, unchecked men, arriving illegally, while we’re told our communities are bigoted for even questioning it. Taxes? for years they promised to go down, yet they go up, no matter who is in Government.

Net Zero?…a fantasy that costs ordinary working people a fortune, while the elites fly private jets to climate summits and drive their Range Rover’s around town, but when you push back, when you ask questions, when you dare to disagree, you’re branded “far right” or a “conspiracy theorist.”

This isn’t just a disconnect, it’s deliberate contempt, the ruling class no longer pretends to work for us, they rule over us, but now, we see them, exposed all in real time, thanks to social media. We’re not relying on biased papers or carefully edited interviews, we’ve got their tweets, their hypocrisy, their smug videos and their out of touch drivel, straight from their own accounts. They can’t hide anymore and that’s why they hate the public having a voice, especially a ‘pleb’ of a publican like me.

Can trust be repaired?.. honestly, I doubt it. When someone lies to you over and over again, when they show you that they think you’re thick, racist or dangerous, just for holding a different view, how do you come back from that?

The game is up, the people have woken up, we see you and we’re not going back to sleep.
