1984 is here - The online ‘Safety’ Act
So here we go again, another day, another assault on free speech in Britain. The so called Online Safety Act, which was sold to us as a measure to “protect kids from porn,” is now being used to slap age verification warnings on migrant hotel protest videos on X (formerly Twitter) and is restricting the viewers, you couldn’t make it up!
We were told this Act was about stopping children accessing explicit sexual content online, that’s what they said. They waved it through Parliament under the guise of protecting our young people from perverts and predators, fair enough…you might think. Who wouldn’t want to shield kids from hardcore pornography?
But here’s the thing, that was never the real plan, because today, what we’re actually seeing, is the first step in government controlled censorship of social media. Not just porn. Not just adult sites or dodgy OnlyFans material…No, the targets are videos of public protests, people speaking out and people challenging power.
And what happens when you try to watch them?…a giant age verification wall appears. Warnings, barriers, delays. It is shadowbanning in all but name. Why? Because our government doesn’t want people to see what’s really happening on the streets of Britain. It’s a classic bait and switch. They sold us morality, but delivered a muzzle.
The Online Safety Act is not about safety, it’s about control. It’s about politicians and tech companies working hand in hand to decide what you’re allowed to see, what you’re allowed to share and ultimately, what you’re allowed to believe. It’s Orwellian and it’s China style state censorship creeping in through the back door.
And let’s be clear, this isn’t just about blocking graphic violence or illegal content. This is about suppressing videos that challenge the government narrative. Videos showing angry parents outside schools, or locals protesting outside migrant hotels, or people simply voicing their disgust at what’s happening to this country.
Suddenly, those clips need a warning. Suddenly, they’re “age-restricted.”
Why?…because they’re “dangerous”? - No. Because they’re powerful, because they expose the truth, because they wake people up and that’s what terrifies the establishment.
What’s next?…age verification for reading political opinions?
Facial recognition to attend a protest?
Digital ID to comment on a livestream?
Don’t laugh, it’s coming.
Let me say this plainly, free speech is under attack in this country, not from radicals, not from foreign powers, but from our own government, armed with legislation dressed up as “safety”… while quietly building a digital prison around us.
This is Britain in 2025. You’re now a threat for posting a video of mums and dads marching outside council chambers. You’re now “harmful content” if you question the migrant hotel scheme. You’re now an extremist for asking what happened to our freedoms. We were warned, but now it’s here and if we don’t stand up now, if we don’t fight back, we lose everything.
This isn’t about porn. It’s about power.
And they’re coming for your voice next.
